A celebration of the music of Mendelssohn

This programme will include the well-known Sonata no. 3 in A, the opening section of which was written to be played at the wedding of Mendelssohn’s sister, Fanny.  There will also be transcriptions of the slow movement from the evocative Scottish symphony (by Jeremy Cull) and the finale from the same work.  And another chance to hear the ‘Cornelius’ March, once included in an audience request programme and which was apparently played decades ago in the Usher Hall for assemblies of George Heriot’s School!
