Blazin’ Fiddles - Scottish Folk Band of The Year - return to the Usher Hall for their third annual St Andrew’s night spectacular with very special guest Karen Matheson. Blazin’ Fiddles’ dynamic live show draws together the distinct musical flavours of the Highlands and Islands. Blending solo and ensemble sets, they come together in a fiery blend to excite your senses. From remote village halls to the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, the power house fiddle quartet of Bruce MacGregor, Kristan Harvey, Jenna Reid and Ruairidh Macmillan and are joined by the formidable Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano to deliver a musically intoxicating evening.
In August 2018, the band joined forces with Karen Matheson for a hugely successful Scottish tour. This St. Andrew’s Night, the Blazers are delighted to be reuniting with Karen for what is sure to be a fantastic night of tunes, song and craic!
Karen Matheson’s life in the limelight began with her performing as a child in her local village hall in Argyll on the West coast of Scotland, where she was brought up immersed in the deep well of traditional songs that have been her inspiration for nearly 40 years of recording and performing worldwide.
Widely recognised as the compelling vocals of Scots band Capercaillie with whom she has graced the pop charts and featured in blockbuster movies, her solo career highlights have included sharing the stage with Pete Seeger in New York and performing at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where her stunning rendition of ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ stole the show to a televised audience of over 600 million people.
