Usher Hall shines with 5 stars

Last year the Usher Hall welcomed over 300,000 visitors and had some truly iconic performances from: Underworld; Christine and The Queens; Young Fathers; Blazin’ Fiddles; Transatlantic Sessions, Symphony Orchestra of India and The Unthanks to name a few.

Recently, Scotland’s national tourism organisation, Visit Scotland, once again reaffirmed the concert hall’s excellence for the fourteenth consecutive year with a five-star Quality Assurance grading – showing consistent performance. The accreditation scheme recognises the exceptional standard of service from the front of house team to the high-quality facilities within the venue.

The programme for this year is now well underway and the team are looking forward to welcoming back musician and composer Nils Frahm, humorist and author David Sedaris, and influential alternative rock band Garbage.

Here’s what some of our long-standing staff had to say about their experience of working at the Usher Hall and some of their highlights over the years:

'The Usher Hall really is an iconic venue, and no two days are ever the same, over the past 24 years of being here, I still feel immensely proud to work alongside such a great team of people in an amazing venue.

The fact that we have retained this 5 star award each year is testament to the dedication the entire team, a team I am very proud to be part of and a team I know who truly deserve this continued recognition.’  Craig Drummond, Front of House Manager

‘I went into the auditorium recently to catch a song by Deacon Blue. Watching a full house singing back at the band having an amazing night out reminded me why this venue and all of its staff are so important to the city. Helping to bring all the elements of a live production together and seeing the result, that was definitely a recent highlight!’  Martin Ross, Production Technician

As the longest serving member of the team I’ve been able to see so many great shows such as the Houston philharmonic reopening concert with live feeds from space, The Flaming Lips with their confetti canons and amazing energy, our long-returning orchestral shows and the Kaiser Chiefs to name a few. ‘  Tricia Young, Ticketing Services Duty Manager
